Companion began as an espresso bar inside the Voo Store concept shop in Kreuzberg before finding a permanent home on Weserstrasse deep in Neukölln, a street better known for vintage boutiques than third-wave coffee. Founders Shawn Barber and Chris Onton built an unusually strong dual reputation in both coffee and directly sourced tea, with a terrazzo bar and La Marzocco machine that signal serious intent. Their own-roasted espresso and filter coffees are some of the most precisely calibrated in the city.
