Melbourne-trained founder Patrick Abbott channelled his southern hemisphere coffee education into this Bilderdijkstraat cafe, which opened in 2016 and quickly became a cornerstone of Oud West's specialty scene. Monks roasts its own beans and operates a roastery on the Westhavenweg, keeping quality tightly controlled from origin to cup. The sizeable cafe space and accessible atmosphere attract both serious coffee drinkers and those discovering specialty coffee for the first time.
