Opened in 1996, Fidel's at 234 Cuba Street is one of the defining venues of Wellington's cafe culture, serving Havana Coffee Works beans through the espresso bar and known for a hearty brunch menu, legendary milkshakes and a relaxed Cuban-inflected interior. The cafe runs Monday to Friday from 7:30am and is open until 10pm most evenings, making it one of the few full-service Cuba Street venues running the full daytime arc. Locals return as much for the community atmosphere as the flat white.
