Founded in 1928 on Avenida Corrientes, El Gato Negro is simultaneously a cafe, a spice shop, and a living museum of Portenio culture. More than 150 spices and 50 tea varietals line the shelves alongside its artisanal roasted coffees, a legacy from its Galician founder who spent years in Sri Lanka. The oak furniture and marble counters are original, and the theatrical interior has been a city landmark for nearly a century.
