Founded in 1858, Cafe Tortoni is the oldest continuously operating cafe in Argentina and one of the most storied in all of Latin America. Its Belle Epoque interior of stained glass, dark wood paneling, and marble-topped tables has hosted Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Gardel, and Federico Garcia Lorca. The house cortado and facturas remain a ritual for locals and visitors alike. A National Historic Monument and an anchor of Buenos Aires cafe culture.
